Al-Mayahi appears before the specialized criminal court in irons and denies the accusations, and the court decides to rule on the defenses and requests

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the Specialized Criminal Court in the capital Sanaa held its second hearing for the trial of journalist Muhammad Dabwan Al-Mayahi.

During the session, journalist Al-Mayahi appeared for the first time and was handcuffed.

From the dock, he denied what was stated in the indictment and the list of evidence presented by the prosecution.

According to Al-Mayahi’s defense chief, lawyer Ammar Ali Yassin, Al-Mayahi told the court that he was a writer, a man of letters and an author, and that his words were distorted, to the point that it became as if they were another person, unrelated to him. Noting that Al-Mayahi spoke about the conditions of his interrogation in prison.

Lawyer Yassin revealed that the court decided to rule on the release requests and the rest of the defenses in the next session, before judicial authorization.
